TYPES OF BRACES

TRADITIONAL METAL BRACES

Traditional metal braces are the most common type, and are more comfortable today than ever before. Made of high-grade stainless steel, metal braces straighten your teeth using metal brackets and archwires. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics (rubber bands) for a more unique and colorful smile.

CLEAR (CERAMIC) BRACES

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. They are an ideal alternative for patients desiring a more aesthetic look. There is no difference in the treatment time or plan if clear braces are used in your orthodontic treatment.

CLEAR ALIGNERS

Clear aligners such as Angel Aligners and Invisalign® are a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable acrylic trays that straighten your teeth like braces. Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are less challenging.

Angel Alingers

Consider clear aligners to achieve the beautiful straight teeth you’ve always wanted — without braces. A consultation with Dr. Nguyen can determine if clear aligners are right for you. Dr. Nguyen has completed a Masters course in the newest advances and treatments in Invisalign® and are highly qualified to treat even the most complex cases with their advanced training.

WHAT IS IT?

Clear aligners such as Angel Aligners or Invisalign® use a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. In our office, clear aligners are made in conjunction with our iTero Element scanner, utilizing 3D computer imaging technology, which has been proven to be the most effective and precise method of aligner fabrication.

WHY WOULD I WANT IT?

Not only are the aligners invisible, but they are also removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you like while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. Further, the aligners are comfortable because there is no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. No metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start, so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to their final positions. You’ll visit us about once every four to eight weeks to ensure your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time and the amount of aligners needed will vary from case to case.
